One of the things that can be very useful for developers and designers alike are the various bookmarklets that have been created. For those that don’t know what bookmarklets are, they basically are applets, small computer applications, stored as the URL of a bookmark in a web browser or as a hyperlink on a web page. They are simple tools that extend the surf and search capabilities of Firefox and Explorer web browsers
Resources
This post was sent out to all the email subscribers of the Tweeaks newsletter on Christmas as a special advanced gift. I am posting it here because it’s too good not to. I wanted to create this extremely usuful list of resources for designers and those interested in graphics, and this is how I am wishing you all Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year
If you have your own website then you would be interested in promoting it as many places as you can on the internet. If you provide useful content, and want to get more exposure of your website, then this list is a good resource.
You can start submitting your links to is right here on Tweeaks, Community Links. Your links will show up in the sidebar as well as on the links page
I made this list of resources over a year ago. It was posted on Tweeaks back before the site was hacked, which forced me to delete it and start over from scratch. I was looking though the old database backup I made to see if there were any posts from back then that I wanted to re-post.
This is a great list of tutorials, links, resources and more from 2008 that I found useful. I haven’t checked the links, so I apologize if any are broken or don’t go to the correct page anymore. These are ancient links in comparison to how much the internet has changed since I first posted this list
If you are lucky enough to have 2 monitors to do your design or development work on, I am not, then you might possibly be interested in having a wallpaper that would fit nicely as the background. I got a request from one of Tweeaks awesome readers for me to post some dual screen wallpapers, and I promised her that it would be next on my list
This is probably not the first list of wave resources you have found, and it most certainly won’t be the last. I wanted to list the things I found to be very useful so far for me, and my use of Google Wave. Wave isn’t the easiest thing to get the hang of when first starting out with it, and the more resources you have access to the better. I hope this list will prove useful to you, and all your Wave needs.
If you currently don’t have a Wave account, and still need an invitation, you can get an invite from me here
You can now submit links to your blog posts or website here on Tweeaks, and it will be shown on our Community Links page. Also, the most recently added links are shown in the sidebar to the right. So if you have, or know of any websites related to web or graphic design, Photoshop, Illustrator, other Adobe products, tutorials, programming, security, computers, blogging, or internet and computer technology in general, as well as, any other website you might have or found useful in some way, feel free to submit the links to them.
I recently found myself becoming much more interested in improving my design skills, more interested than ever before, too, which I didn’t think was possible, and because of this growing interest I have been seeking out all sorts of information that has to do with web and graphic design improvement, and overall knowledge and understanding for what good, quality design really is.
I have always thought of myself as a skilled designer, but only in my world. I know the truth is I still have endless amounts to learn, since I am constantly reminded everyday of how little I know because of all the design blogs and websites I visit daily. I am envious of the people that work for the website networks
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make an amazing looking icon, and looks professional? Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t. Either way, here is a tutorial that will teach you how to whether you like it or not. This is yet another tutorial from PsdTuts+ that will leave you feeling like you really learned something you didn’t know already.
Every tutorial they create is amazing, and each one is worth your time to try out. I’ve been using tutorials on PsdTuts for years now, and they still teach me new things. I highly recommend checking this one and all of their many other tutorials out. The tutorials there are so easy to follow, with a screen shot image illustrating each step clearly
For all of you who are looking to further your skills with Adobe Creative Suite programs, and maybe even become an Adobe Certified Expert, then go to GraphicMania.net and try answering the Adobe Photoshop CS4 exam practice questions, and take part in the contest. It’s a really great way to see how much you know about Photoshop Cs4, or what you could maybe learn some more of
While I was working on making a bunch of random icons for an icon pack, I decided to create one of just RSS icons in different colors since it wouldn’t take long to do that. This is the second pack of icons I have made. After making the Social Icon Pack I felt I needed to do a little better because, well I’m never satisfied with any of my work, and always want to top everything I do with something better
If you happen to like the social network icons used in the sidebar over on the right, and I know you do
and you wanted to download them as a pack, you are now able to. This will be the first of many more icon packs that me and some members of Tweeaks Forum will be working together to make, as a collaboration of mixed icon designs and packs. I know this may not be the most spectacular pack of social icons available on the internet, but it could be worse. I may add more social icons of this style to this pack, too.

Are you a fan of delicious typography?
There are some really nice and cool fonts out there, and font designers. One font designer I found, Dieter Steffmann has one of the largest collections of free quality fonts with full character sets. He is an expert of Blackletter and a master of typesetting
Okay all you people that use GIMP to make graphics and other image manipulations. This post is for you. I found what I beleive to be 10 amazing sig tutorials to help you learn some more techniques for making graphics with GIMP and to can improve your design skills. I have never actually used GIMP myself, but I can tell from looking at these tutorials that they are worth trying out.
These are some more advanced tutorials, but they should be easy enough to follow. I wanted to cater to a wider audience of people rather than post tutorials, and resources exclusively for Photoshop users. I’m sure you will learn something from doing a few of these tutorials
You can never have too many massive resource lists, whether it be graphic or web deisgn tutorials, downloads, useful tips, tools, you name it. It’s always a good to have as many links as you can right in one place. Not only are resource lists good for search engine optimization, but they are a great way to save time browsing search engine results, trying to hunt down what you need. You can always refer back to the same spot for everything you need
