• My Experience As A Volunteer At Wordcamp Boston (with Session Slides) #wcbos

Wordcamp Boston 2010Now that it’s over I wanted to write about how great Wordcamp Boston was. Check out #wcbos or #bestwordcampever if you need more proof. Or you can relive it on the live blog. I first found out about it a couple weeks before the tickets went on sale, and I immediately wanted to go. The next thing I heard was that tickets were sold out….bummer. I didn’t even know they went on sale and they were already gone. Luckily I happened to see they still needed volunteers, which I was willing to settle for even though I wouldn’t be able to see and do everything I wanted when I wanted, and I would have to do work. I just wanted to be apart of it, and I was one of those chosen to volunteer so I would be able to go after all

It’s time for another dose of design inspiration. I think it’s necessary for designers to look at others work often to help expanding the imagination of creativity. jqueryI’ve not posted in a while because I have been working a lot on New2WP.com and all that great stuff we’ve been doing over there. I have also been learning more about jQuery, and reading up on that a lot.

Here you can learn how to better understand the commonly used jQuery method $(this) if you still have an unclear understanding of it like I did for a long time. I want to help others understand it better since I had a difficult time “getting” it

I would love to learn it better so I could be one of those Php gurus out there, but it’s just not gonna happen people

javascript-iconI decided to just go ahead follow up my previous post on how to make a banner ad rotator PHP script. Create A Random Banner Ad Rotator in PHP

php1There are countless ways to create a banner ad rotator script in several different coding languages. For making an ad rotator I’d prefer to do it with PHP like I have done below, but depending on where I wanted to display it, I might consider using jQuery because that is becoming one of my new faovorite things and is growing more popular everyday. This is just a basic PHP ad rotating script with nothing fancy like what you could do with jQuery, but it is still useful and rather simple to write.

Mastering CSSI recently realized how easy it is to forget the something I once knew how to do very well. CSS was the first thing I learned how to do in web design, since I started getting into coding because of Myspace. It’s funny I know, but Myspace is the reason for what I now do for a living, but I haven’t been doing much CSS coding for a the past few months. It isn’t something I need to do much of at my current job.

50 CSS Galleries For Design Inspiration

CSS web galleries are a really useful and important resource for graphic and web designers. They can be great for getting new ideas and inspiration for graphics, web designs, layouts, logos, and basically all things design.

They are also another way to improve search engine optimization and page ranking, by having several incoming links to your site from other notable websites. This is obviously very important for when people search for a keyword, the most relevant results that are returned are partly based on the PageRank of certain page. So the more links to your site from sites that aren’t considered spam, the better off you are all around.

However, I did not make this list for people interested in submitting their site to CSS Galleries, at least not entirely, because there are a very large number of these types of sites, and manually submitting yours to some or all them would take time, and you might want to consider your options here first before doing so. Outlaw Design Blog gives some insight to alternate ways to for getting your site listed on CSS Galeries
