About
Hello, my name is Jared Williams and I live in Boston, Ma. I am a Web and Graphic Designer, and as you may be able to tell, and my Tweeaks.com is a new site and a design blog of mine, and my newly re-designed and developed jredwilly.com website.

Anyways, I have been doing this type of work for about 6 years, and most of my skills and knowledge are self-taught. I have a very good understanding of (X)HTML and CSS. I am have written various scripts and database-driven applications using PHP & MySQL languages, and I continue to learn and develop new applications using PHP. I have gotten better writing PHP and MySQL, though I am no expert as there is still so much I have yet to learn. I have some knowledge of JavaScript, and have written a few basic scripts with it, and a few things in AJAX, but I am not very familiar with AJAX at all. As for other languages, I have taken a few classes in which I learned about developing in VB.NET, and how to make several different applications to get a basic understanding of how to code the main form objects, passing values from form to form, and also making use of a Microsoft Access database for a program that can add edit and manipulate the records in the database.

Background

I went to school at Middlesex Community College in Ma. to get an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, majoring in Photography. While I was a student there, some of the classes I took were: Photography I & II, Color and Design, Intro to Web Publishing, Psychology of the Internet, Journalism, Creative Writing. I started getting into computers after I finally got a laptop, and began learning CSS via Myspace. Then something just took hold of me and I found myself feeling this strong desire to write and look code all day long. Before I graduated there I decided I wanted to get a degree in Web Design and computer IT area instead of Liberal Arts. I saw a program that had classes for everything I wanted to learn on ITT Technical Institutes website, and I then transfered to ITT Tech. Which pretty much brings me to the present.

Present

I have done work for a few companies doing Web Design and Graphic Design. I am currently an employee at TouchStone Software Corporation in North Andover, Ma. where I have a position as Web and Graphic Design Engineer. I am solely responsible for about 15 or 16 of the companies websites, that I design and develop new content for, maintain, and optimize to bring more visitors in and drive traffic it to the company’s biggest money making products: DriverAgent.com, RegistryWizard.com and eSupport.com. Some of the other responsibilities I have are: new and creative HTML email designs, CSS coded banner ads, image banner ads, web 2.0 style graphics, the GUI of RegistryWizard (including all graphics and 3D animations),
company logos and company branding, SEO of all the websites. etc. Besides working for TouchStone Software, I have also done work for Boston Residential Companies Inc, which I designed about 7 websites for. I have screen shots of some of the sites I did for them in my portfolio, since the company no longer exists, most of the websites aren’t up anymore.

I am also currently a student at ITT Technical Institute and am in the Multimedia program there. I expect to my Associate Degree in Information Technology - Multimedia, when I graduate this May 2008. Since starting at ITT, some classes I have taken involve the understanding and use of: Photoshop CS2, AutoDesk 3ds Max, Microsoft Office 2003, Visual Studio (VB.NET), Visual Design Theory, Audio/Video Techniques (Adobe Premiere), Broadcast Graphics (Adobe AfterEffects), Adobe Flash CS3, Rapid Visualization, and Instructional Design.
